Our Lessons Are Tailored
For All Skill levels

Individual and group lessons are offered in 1.5 to 2.5 hour lengths. Each lesson comes with a certified eFoil instructor that rides along side of you for your safety and progression.

01. Ground School

All lessons begin with a safety briefing and overview of the Lift eFoil. We spend 15-20 mins going over safe operation of the eFoil / hand controller as well as a review of technique and stances.

02. Belly Boarding / Prone

We start off on our belly. Out focus is to get a feel for the throttle control and steering.

03. Kneeboarding

This is where the fun begins. The goal is to get the board on plane, just like a boat, so it has enough speed and stability to support standing.

04. Surfing Time

Now you are in control of the eFoil. The focus is on standing, riding, and carving while maintaining the board on the surface. Here you will get used to the board's handling and speed. Guaranteed smiles at this point.

05. Time to Fly

Lean back and wait for the board to lift off the water.The first time you take flight it's truly magical. You'll be back for more.

Where to ride

Wondering where to ride? Almost anywhere w/ a body of water 4+ feet deep is plenty good. We ride all over Lake Travis, Lake Austin, Lake LBJ, Canyon Lake, Lake Corpus Christi, the Laguna Madre and more. Here are a few of our favorite spots.

  • Description: 
    This is one of our primary sites for eFoil lessons. A great place to ride in either direction. Go towards the dam for the least boat traffic. Especially awesome during the week or early on the weekends for glass-like conditions.

  • Description: 
    A great place on lake Austin with few boats. Don’t go towards the dam as it is too shallow. All good headed towards town but pay attention to shallow areas marked w/ bouys. Enjoy the cool and clear water. It is especially awesome on a hot 100+ degree summer day.

  • Description: 
    The largest protected (no-wake zone) on Lake travis. I especially like venturing out into the main body of the lake for group rides. Given the low water levels on Travis the walk to the launch is a bit too far. We’ll be back as soon as (fingers-crossed) the water levels come back up.

  • Description: 
    This one is right where Lake Austin spills into town lake by Hula Hut and Mozarts. A nice size no wake zone that allows exploration up river. It can get a bit crazy on a weekend afternoon but other times are great. We will do this one for group lessons and group rides as its a bit further drive from our regular locals. Also note that you need to bring a credit card to pay the parking machines.

About Us

Unhooked Sports was founded in Lakeway, TX in the Summer of 2019 to bring the eFoil experience to the Austin area.

Founded and owned by Paul Graykowski, a kiteboarding and wake surfing enthusiast that wanted to master hydrofoiling to gain more kiteable days on Lake Travis.

Let Unhooked Sports introduce you to the exciting experience of foiling. There is nothing else like flying over water in virtual silence.

Mikaela

Hi, my name is Mikaela! I like wake surfing, foiling, motocross, and Diet Coke! I enjoy spending time with my husband and French Bulldog Tank on the weekends. And I LOVE teaching foiling and watching my students progress!

Ben

Ben is originally from Cocoa Beach, FL and will always look for any excuse to be on the water. He has lived in the Austin area for two years and usually spends his free time looking for new hiking trails with his Yellow Lab, Ryder.
